Finance Assistant

Due to rapid growth seen in the business, a vacancy has arisen for a Finance Assistant to join our busy Finance team.

The Responsibilities:

Part of a small team this will be a varied and hands on position and the candidate will play a pivotal role in the team. The main duties are:

  • On-going support to the Purchase Ledger Clerk (e.g. Process invoices, Query resolution, and filing) especially so during busy periods and vacation cover.
  • Multi-currency weekly & monthly bank Payments.
  • Process weekly and monthly payroll, maintain records, and keep up-to-date with relevant legislation.
  • HR tasks including HR database maintenance.
  • Petty & Foreign cash control.
  • Credit card processing.
  • Accounts Receivable and credit control.
  • Cover for reception duties.

The Candidate:

We are looking for someone who can happily work on their own or as part of a team. They will be energetic and pro-active, enjoy their work, and are customer focused.

The candidate must be friendly, have a good sense of humour, and have the confidence to communicate with all levels of stakeholders, including international customers and suppliers.

Previous finance and payroll exposure is essential as you will be expected to hit the ground running. An accountancy/business qualification would assist your application but is not essential; the most important attribute is your experience.

Electrical Engineering Manager

Colin Mear Engineering Ltd is a world renowned solutions provider in the fields of processing and packaging machinery.  We provide bespoke and standard solutions as well as engineering services across a range of industries worldwide.  Due to massive success in new and emerging markets CME is experiencing rapid growth and is aiming to structure its business accordingly for the future.

We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Engineering manager to run our electrical department at our site near near Chard, South Somerset.  As the manager, you will be responsible for the day to day operations of a busy department employing 8 people, employing a hands on approach.  This role requires a strong and assertive character that is not afraid to challenge and push to deliver excellence. You will be a high calibre candidate and have exceptional communication skills, a good and verifiable technical background with knowledge of PLC control systems programming as well as panel building and machine wiring.

Job Description: 

  • Working with the Project Managers to ensure work schedules and workload are balanced to achieve the company targets for Utilisation, productivity and on time delivery
  • Manage time and attendance and job clocking’s for the team
  • Take responsibility in the first instance for disciplinary matters within the department
  • Management of the electrical team through the phases of machine build, installation & commissioning and any relevant troubleshooting of machinery supplied
  • Responsible for the coaching and development of team members and mentoring of apprentices
  • Occasional overseas travel may be required.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Experience in industrial automation / control system is highly desirable including cabinet building and machinery wiring
  • Knowledge of PLC systems / programming /editing is a definite advantage (Siemens/Beckhoff)
  • Excellent communication and time management skills and a positive attitude 
  • Ability to read electrical panel and wiring drawings.
  • Ability to plan and organise their work effectively to meet changing environments and needs
  • A full electrical apprenticeship is advantageous
  • Experience in LEAN and continuous improvement processes.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, 
  • Ability to work as part of a team. IT skills required with specific reference to the Microsoft suite of packages including MS Project  

Job Type: Full-time, 38.5 hrs/week over 4.5 days

Salary: Generous Salary plus pension and allowances, 5 weeks paid holiday plus statutory bank holidays

Skilled Mechanical Fitter

Job purpose:

As part of the assembly team they will be expected to carry out all activities related to that department including, but not limited to:

  • General assembly of major and sub-assemblies
  • Refurbishment work of second hand machinery
  • Setting and adjustment of machines during run up
  • Participation in development work
  • Opportunities to participate in installations worldwide

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • A broad experience of Fitting practices.
  • Problem solving and a logical mind.
  • Able to work on own with little supervision also able to work within a team.
  • Proactive in suggesting improvements and a self-motivator.
  • Product knowledge of packaging machines and special-purpose machines desirable but not essential.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to read and follow detailed assembly drawings.
  • A willingness to travel worldwide would be advantageous

Pay and conditions:

38 hours per week over 4 days.

Mon-Wed 07:00-17:15

Thursday 07:00-16:15

Generous overseas allowances

Pay £12.94/hr with potential to exceed £40k per annum with installation work & overtime, 5 weeks paid holiday plus statutory bank holidays.
